    [ Updated version, for 2012 ]

The World League is an eight round Swiss team match tournament between the various national teams on chess.com.  The main purpose of the World League is to provide as many players as possible the chance to play against people from around the world in friendly competition.  To this end, Admins are asked to accept all nationals or residents of their country who apply into their group.  If an applicant is already playing for another World League team, send the applicant a message explaining that they can only play for one team for a season, before you accept them.  If players from other countries apply, please send them a message telling them which team they could apply to. The rule in place is one player - one team - one season. This means that if a player is changing his location in the mid-season, he MUST WAIT the new season to play for his new team. Season = a competitional year from Round 1 to Round 8.

Each team is asked to supply two admins to serve as representatives to the World League Headquarters.

Rounds start on 13-Mar, 17-Apr, 22-May, 26-Jun, 7-Aug, 11-Sep, 23-Oct and 4-Dec.  Admins who are members of the World League Headquarters group will receive a News Item with the instructions for each new round.  Announce the match in your group explaining that all members are welcome to join regardless of their rating or experience, and encourage as many players to sign up as possible.  Admins are asked not to delete players from the roster or group, or try to discourage players from joining based on their rating, and they may lose matches where this appears to have happened by disqualification.

Please pay attention ! For 2012, EL and AL games will not count for WL.

If you notice a player in the opponent's roster who is playing in another World League match for a different team, please notify the admin directly, and resolve the problem before you lock your roster.  You can find the names of the Super Admins and Admins who handle World League matches in the Team Representatives 2012 thread.

Post links for your round 1 matches to the WL2012 R1 match links thread.

Report problems meeting the minimum number of players, players being deleted from your opponent's roster, etc. to the WL2012 Match Problems thread.

If you have any suggestions about how the World League tournament format or groups could be improved, you can post them to the WL HQ Suggestions thread.

If you would like to chat, congratulate or thank someone, tell jokes, rant or vent, please post either to the WL HQ World League Open Discussion thread or the WL League Chat thread.  Please do not chat in the Group Notes.

Scoring System: Teams will be awarded 1 point for every match they win, and 1/2 point for every match they draw.  Ties will be settled by Neustadtl score, as in other chess.com tournaments.
