Yes, a groovy solo is always much nicer than a bevy of blast beats. The blasts, while often technically impressive, are rarely of a euphonious design. That's what makes the songs and the mix off that Necrophagist record so great... the snare on the blast beats is played/mixed quite low in relation to the guitars, while it kicks in, appropriately, on the groove beats. "Epitaph" is one of the few listenable death metal records, imo. Romain is in the band now, but the guy who wrote and rby izzyabe 27 days ago
Izzy..Thanks for the links. Romain is bad (in a good way!). His kit is configured like mine, But he has an extra aerial tom. Very enlightening to watch him "get around the kit". I prefer the 1st vid where he is free styling. Anyway, really enjoyed this!! I have to had another drummer to my "favs" list. LOLby BackBeatDrummer 27 days ago
