  • I'm a big believer in the CK. It's all I play vs 1.e4. Generally, this is a defense which is solid but somewhat unambitious. A stronger player will use his space advantage and try to slowly suffocate you. Weaker players will be overly aggressive and try to refute the CK. You will enjoy playing this defense against the latter, not so much the former.

  • I'm just looking at this defense considering making it my main answer to 1.e4. Had been playing the Center Counter Defense for some years, but recently got crushed. The pawn structures are the same, so at least I feel somewhat at home. Picked up the book by GM Lackdawala which uses the 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 dxe 4.Nxe4 Nd7 followed by Nf6 etc. Seems like a solid system. Wish me luck.
