About Me:

I learned chess in January of 2008. Prior to that, I didn't even know what castling was. It may be hard to believe my current rating having just been playing chess for about a year now, but I've really fallen in love with it and am usually doing something chess related every day for several hours. I've been experimenting a lot lately with Hypermodern and Flank openings and a few more classical options: particularly the Zukertort/Reti and English Systems, Van Geet/Vienna Systems, and Bird Systems as White, and, as Black, Alekhine's Defense, the Dutch Systems, Benoni Systems, and the more classical Sicilian and Scandinavian Defenses. I'm also interested in learning more about the Nimzowitsch Defense. I enjoy the positional play arising from many of these openings, but I'm also a big fan of gambits and enjoy finding gambit lines within these openings to explore.
