MY CREED
- I will give equal consideration to my opponent’s plans and threats as I do to my own.
- I will not move out of thoughtless reaction, fear or greed. OTB, let the new position sink in and then think 1 min at least unless it is a forced reply.
- My opponent does not have to respond the way I want him to. On the contrary, it his duty to respond the way I DON’T want him to.
- Find ways for pieces to coordinate and ~multiply~ each other’s power, not just to add.
- A flash of inspiration is possible, after you have done the many hours of work that make it possible.
- Sometimes the greatest virtue of a piece is creating a safe zone of operation for another piece.
- A chess piece is not a block of wood on a square, it is the projection of power onto other squares.
- Nice chess pieces are nice, but chess is not the pieces.
