About Me:
I am a married father of 5 boys! Ages 6 to 16. And they all play chess. I am in vehicle manufacturing and a part time wood worker. I love to build chess tables. I have built and sold quite a number of them and am constantly looking for ways to make unique and different tables than whats on the market. I have many ideas but something else(I wonder what) seems to take most of my time....
I love to use exotic woods like the curly, figured woods and foreign hardwoods.
I am constantly studying the game and trying to improve but honestly,..it seems like the more I learn about the game the less I know about it.. its a very deep , complicated game but I love it...
I started playing chess when I was about 9. I used to watch my father play.After I learned the game my father and I used to play together often. I never beat him though.
I did beat my grandfather though! I said "checkmate' and he frantically searched the board for a possible mistake or a way out and after what seemed like 10 speechless minutes all of a sudden, with one swoop of the arm the chess pieces went flying everywhere. That was one of the greatest moments in my chess Life! I'll never forget that and I always chuckle when I think about it.
I love the game because it is a war in miniature and you can totally lose yourself in a game. All your problems disappear, your worries...and life is simple again!
