About Me:
I spend my time reading and writing. I do some drawing. And, I play the guitar. I have a degree in art and did some work on a masters in art history. My hobbies (besides chess and especially chess history) are vertebrate paleontology, evolutionary theory, mathematics, history, and reading mystery novels. I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up.
It has been almost 25 years since I last played over-the -borad chess. And it has been 10 years since I played correspondence chess (rating 2256). If I have a favorite player, it is probably Emanuel Lasker.
I ran a chess club for four years (1975 thru 1978), edited a scholastic newsletter (1982-85), wrote historical articles for a newsletter (1975), and was active in scholastic chess from 1976-1995. I was a USCF tournament director for 25 years and am a Life Member of the USCF. Since 1996 I have been engaged in writing my two volume history of championship chess, The Chess Kings (Vol. 1 was published in 2006 and Vol. 2 is expected to be ready by Oct. 2008). I still enjoy studying chess history and playing over master games.
