Though my main occupation is that of a VBA programmer, I also hold a background in corporate training. Outside of work, and besides chess, is time spent with friends, and when they are busy there is always a good book to catch up on, or a movie I haven't seen.
Hmm, somewhere in my teen years the game was introduced to me. Early on there was nothing more than opening books, here in America, but somehow my rating rose higher and higher.
Then, like so many others life forced me to put the game away while income and food on the table took precedence. I'd say it took 5 or more years for my return, but what a change! Digital clocks, algebraic notation as the norm, and computers!! Yeah!
I quickly sought out the plethora of new and improved learning materials and regained my 1900+ rating status in the USCF. Today I play at local quads or swisses within NJ, and get in the occasional tournament in Connecticut or elsewhere when time permits.
