About Me:
By profession I’m a social worker, and my passion is writing. My interests and hobbies are varied; I enjoy chess, music, art, poetry, literature, history, research, genealogy, philosophy, psychology, neurology, sociology, theology, genetics, linguistics, nature, astronomy, archaeology, traveling, dancing, and of course, my family and friends.
Regarding Chess:
I started playing chess two years ago, when a friend taught me to play OTB. My dad once tried to teach me the game several years ago, but failed; being a retired Navy Seal (he was a Frogman in WWII and the Korean War), my father was too “military” in his teaching style, and I couldn’t learn from him. So we gave it up then. But this is now… However, I do have a murky past history of timing-out on chess games (quite a few were due to California Wildfires; I couldn't make it home from work one night, and the rest is history), which is haunting me, but I’m trying hard to avoid time-outs in the future. I look forward to learning more about chess, and I remain open to suggestions. Typically, I don’t resign, but play to the hopeful end. I’m very fond of chess history, and I belong to a few groups here on chess.com, as well as a couple of clubs on gameknot.com. I also play backgammon and chess on brainking.com. Hopefully we’ll be seeing one another around the boards… Feel free to challenge me; in spite of my low rating (I may surprise you). Cheers and good games to you!!
