Aside from chess, I enjoy hiking and camping, movies, music (Glen Phillips!!), cooking and dining out.
I'm a divorced part-time parent, so my free time is precious!
My Chess Style / Favorite Openings:
I learned to play when I was 8, but didn't play in a tournament until I was 27. I had, however, attended many tournaments with my father, who is blind. This was how I learned to keep notation, watch the clock and track-down pairings. It was actually a great way to learn about tournaments.
Chess, for me, is a great way to lose myself and get away from problems. I usually play with headphones on (no, I'm not hiding a tiny receiver in my ear!), otherwise I start singing to myself. :) At the chess club I attend, I am known as the guy who once said, "Chess should be loud!" I play 5 min. games on Yahoo, and once a week at my chess club. I play in tournaments when I can and am trying to teach my 4 year-old son to play.
