Formerly a video game world champion on various console formats, I started chess in my 20's after a friend got me interested. Played in my first tournament at the age of 25. I'm quite certain I would have been at least an IM had I began training at the usual age of 6 or 7, but alas, I was playing Atari 2600 during those years :-P At any rate, once I beat my first master in an OTB tournament game when I was 35 years old, I was pretty much satisfied I'd done much better than most adults learning chess. So later when I managed to win first place in an open section of a local tournament, I took the trophy home and retired from OTB rated chess. Now I focus my efforts on ICCF, where I'm making the push to earn my IM title. I'm also currently playing in the final round of the USA CCC.
Current ICCF: 2361 with one IM norm (2nd norm and IM title will be official next year)
