My paternal uncle taught me chess during the Christmas holidays of 1986 when I was 10 years old. I played in high school and made it to the provincial team, which was easy because there was not much competition for places. I played on board 1 during the provincial championship in 1993. I also had a chess mentor when I was 11 and 12. The first year, we played almost every afternoon; the second year, about two times per week. That improved my game alot.
I do not consult books or databases with regards to my current games. I might consult them with regard to general aspects.
