I've been playing chess for 27 years. Chess960 is my favorite form of chess. It is true chess at its finest, playing purely on strategy and tactics, without the aid of memorized openings and defenses. The start of a 960 game is like being in the middle of a classic game, in that only after all the memorized lines have been exhausted are you truly on your own. My least favorite form of chess is Bullet, where making the fastest moves is more important than making the best moves.
Some food for thought: White usually opens with E4 (King's Pawn Game), the most popular of the twenty possible opening moves. Although effective in winning for White (54.25%), it is not as successful as the four next most common openings for White: d4 (2nd most popular - Queen's Pawn Game - 55.95%), Nf3 (3rd most popular - Zukertort Opening - 55.8%), c4 (4th most popular - English Opening - 56.3%), and g3 (5th most popular - Benko's Opening - 55.8%). If not for the great success of the Sicilian defense against the e4 opening, it would most likely garner the highest winning percentage. Bobby Fischer said that the King's Pawn Game is "best by test" so who am I to argue. I actually prefer playing e4 as well.
I enjoy watching the best in the world play. Here are all the games from the 2012 World Championship of Chess: http://moscow2012.fide.com/en/
