About Me:

Born again atheist, practicing troublemaker.

It's been 20 years since I last played in a USCF event though I've been an avid online player for the last decade and credit the easy access to high quality players for reigniting my love for the game, as well helping me improve by leaps and bounds.

I'm a gambiteer at heart and in OTB games but online correspondence chess requires a more classical (i.e. sound) opening repertoire.  Ruys, Sicilians and various Indians are my preferred weapons online.

Fighting chess is the only chess I'm interested in playing; I am not afraid to make a risky move if it will ensure that a game remains interesting and I actively seek out opponents with the same mentality.  If you are the kind of player who only cares about your rating, who is willing to play a boring game of chess to hold on to or grab a couple of extra rating points, I'd rather we not play.  If, on the other hand, you share my view that an interesting loss is a better result than a dull win, I'd love to play you.

As an American, my favorite player is of course the great Bobby Fischer but next on my list would be the under appreciated Czech IM Max "Hero of the Hippo" Ujtelky who has a very unconventional and provocative style of play that I find very attractive and British IM Andrew Martin, one of the few chess pros/instructors with enough charisma to be an effective teacher.
