About Me:
Musician and graduate student, married to a wonderful woman who has better things to do than play chess. I am simultaneously working at go (the board game, not the verb), which is bending my mind in entirely different directions. As with most things, my theoretical knowledge of the game is a few steps ahead of my ability to apply it. I have very few opportunities to play OTB, so this is my major chess outlet. I'm also interested in chess variants, particularly Fischerrandom/Chess960 and Seirawan chess. It's mostly an abstract fascination, since I'm nowhere near good enough at orthodox chess for it to feel "played out."

Note: I wrote this for an audience not terribly familiar with chess. I don't mean to insult anyone's intelligence by explaining who Capablanca was, or other things that might seem unnecessary in this venue. In modern times some have begun to ...Read more »
