Status: Trying to get my Blitz rating up to snuff! (8 months ago)
About Me:
My five-year-old daughter got me started in chess in February, when she came across an old box of chess pieces and asked me what it was for. I bought a roll-up board, brushed up on the rules, and we discovered we both enjoyed playing. Now the chessboard is a fixture in our house. Her three-year-old brother plays with the pieces and cheers us on. We're all learning together. I'm very much a beginner. I played a little bit when I was young, but that was so long ago that while I remembered how the pieces moved, I'd forgotten how to set up the board (it was a search for that information that led me to Chess.com). I'm looking forward to balancing two things: keeping it a self-challenge, and keeping it fun. Tactics and positional play I'm sharpening daily, thanks to Tactics Trainer and Chess Mentor. I'm one of the volunteer moderators on Live Chess (still in beta, but getting there). Drop by and say hello!
