Status:   now on two weeks safari in Zambia! (4 days ago)

Occupation: housewife and mother and part time model

About Me:

I have three daughters (oldest two are twins) who are all keen players and I help out with coaching at their school. I learned to play as a young girl and played to a high standard at school. Then I stopped playing in my late teens. I worked as cabin crew and as a model before I met my husband. I still do some modelling now but my first priority is my family. I started playing again about a year ago to help my girls. I think this is a really friendly site and I look forward to a good sporting game against you!

ps It is a great site but I am really looking forward to the new livechess! I am using firefox but must have lost 100 games through disconnection !

UPDATE: Sept 27, 2009.  This year both my parents died unexpectedly and then I had to spend a lot of time travelling backwards and forwards to Ireland to sort things out. I then became ill with a virus and then developed a life threatening blood disorder, though I am now on the mend! So it has been a tough year. My husband decided that to help me recover we would take time out to travel the world, me, him and the girls - and their schools were enlightened enough to give them permission as it is a once in a lifetime experience,  as long as they keep a record for when they return!  He also said, as I was touch and go in hospital, that we would renew our wedding vows in Bali, 13 years to the day since we got married (Sept 23rd). Bali is the first stop on a journey that will take us round the world - so I will only be onsite for the next few months to let people know how I am going on. Here is a picture from the special day in Bali!

I will try and update this profile as we visit other places. In the meantime thanks to all my wonderful friends on chess.com!

Our next stop is New Zealand where we are currently in a place called Kaikoura. It is a wonderful, beautiful place on South Island where the mountains sweep down to the sea and there is all sorts of bird and marine life, including albatrosses, dolphins - and whales! Apparently they dive two km down to feed and some of them even have scars of fights with giant squid. This is really an incredible place and you can go whale watching and be guaranteed to see them. I know - because that is what we have done the last two days! Incredible! this is a picture my 9 year old daughter took from the whale watching boat:

I will do another update on our round the world adventure soon!

Ok our next stop was India. We spent a few days in Mumbai to get used to it then moved to Kerala which is an incredible place. Just to show I am feeling stronger we went on a five day trek, 7000 feet up in the hills! We do a lot of walking in the Pennines in England and the walking was quite easy. My daughters are 11 and 9 but they are experienced walkers and left most adults standing! At night we stayed in treehouses, sometimes 80 feet up (you go up in a bamboo cage weighted with water on a rope to form a lift) and they have double beds and en suite bathrooms in them! Here is pic of the treehouse and also the area we walked (again all pics are by my 9 year old, Kerry, except the wedding dress pic).

Next stop Nepal and a trek to Everest base camp!

Ok we have completed a week long trek to Everest base camp - 16,700 feet, which I think is over three miles high! We made it successfully - in fact the walking was quite easy and me, my husband and daughters were out in front most of the time. They think my 9 year old may be the youngest girl to have made it there! The scenery is spectacular and it is an amazing feeling looking out of the tent and saying the highest mountain in the world. It would be incredible to actually go up there but we will settle for basecamp for now. It is also interesting that you come away from there and there is a main road - the himalayan highway, which soon got us back to Tingri.  That was three days ago and we are now relaxing in Goa - a change in temperature from 3 degrees to 30 degrees!  Anyway here are two more pictures: I will do another update soon

so here we are now in Goa, staying in a villa by the beach in the south at a place called Varca. It is absolutely beautiful - miles of sandy beaches and some wonderful restaurants (the food on the Everest trek was as good as it could be but very basic so we are making up for it now!)  It is evening here and my daughter has just taken this pic - yes although you cant see much detail that is me having a cocktail on the beach!
