About Me:
Thanks for Visiting!
I started playing chess at age 45 and have been playing for around 4 years. I started getting serious with chess in Jan of 2008 after I found the site: Chessvideos.tv (http://www.chessvideos.tv/). I began posting videos for feedback. The people of Cvtv have inspired me to dig deeper into the depths of chess. I am also enjoying the benefits of this site, allowing me to play cvtv members without the limits of time and space. I want to thank all those (here, on cvtv and otb) who have supported me in my slow and arduous journey.
My goal in chess is to become a intermediate club level player with a 50% game win ratio (at my club). If I were to put a USCF rating to my goal, I would be very happy with 1500-1600 (Class C), but I have a long way to go for that.
I also have a message to adult beginners who have taken on the "lifestyle" of chess. I believe that age is a factor in the speed of learning anything, but I don't think one should let age be a roadblock in learning this great game. Yes, though younger minds will stun you with their speed of learning, don't be too hard on yourself, "chess enlightenment" won't come like a "bolt of lightning", but rather like the onset of a new "ice age". Though sometimes it seems I am not making any progress, I must force myself to think back far enough to realize that I have. Chess is a long journey and improvement will come with devotion and perserverance and the trick to success (IMHO) is to enjoy the people along the way!
A message to my opponents: "I do not cheat, nor do I use any assistance in my games". I will, however, "pull the books" upon your request if you are trying to study an opening. Like everyone else, I hate to lose, but I will do my best to be a good sport about it and I hope you will too. I am also not a fan of "trash talk". You won't here it from me and I hope I won't hear it from you.
I will also be happy to do a video upon request (for Chessvideos.tv), that is, if the game is worthy of analysis. I may not ask (or forget to ask) my competitor permission before I do a video of our game; however, I will honor any requests that you have if you prefer that I don't. Please just let me know. You have my permission to post any game videos with me regardless of whether I like it or not...lol. I am honored to have a video done of any of my games.
Thanks Again for all of your support and "Play Well",
