I am a retired criminal defense attorney who practised for 35 years in Southern California. I have been playing chess since I was 15 but with long periods of inactivity. I was once a rated player back in the early '80's and played in some local tournaments, but I haven't done that in 20+ years.

I play chess because I loved its complexities and with the hope it will exercise my mind.
