About Me:
Family: father of two
...Work: I build Subaru automobiles
...Play: I play World of Warcraft and Maple Story with my kids, as well as numerous other card and board games.
...Music: I love The Moody Blues, Bebel Gilberto, and Paul Oakenfold
...Books: I like historical oddities taking place in the early 20th century, like "Against the Day" by Thomas Pynchon and Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead"
...Chess Books: "Modern Chess Openings" by Walter Korn and "The Most Instructional Games of Chess Ever Played" by Irving Chernev
My Chess Style / Favorite Openings:
I favor the quick attack and openings that lead to quick mates. Better when I was younger, I'm just starting to get back into Chess and realizing how much I don't know. I play Shogi (Japanese Chess), which is a blast and not nearly as hard to learn as it looks. If you can play Chess, it will be a breeze for you. Don't let the Kanji (Japanese writing) put you off. If you think of it like they are pictures (even if you don’t know the meaning), they're not that hard to remember. I also like Makruk (Thai Chess) and Navia Dratp, which in my opinion is the best Chess variant ever created. I hope Bandai resurrects Navia Dratp one day...
