USCF Rating 1201
I live and work in Italy for now, but I'm from San Antonio, and will be returning there after this assignment is over. Taught myself to play chess at 7 (from the "C" encyclopedia). Years later became chess champion of my sixth grade class--even beat my teacher. Thought I was the next Bobby Fischer, so I started playing in real tournaments.
Â
I got my chess clock cleaned. The only thing I excelled at was losing. Stuck with it a couple years anyway--still really enjoyed the game, but I basically gave it up in my early 20s. Would play for fun every now and again.
Â
Fast forward until I'm over half a century old--and suddenly I want to play again. Aww-Rats has got me convinced I could become a Master if I really work at it, so I'm going for it. It sounds crazy, an old guy like me who has never been higher than 1500 USCF becoming a Master player, but I'm nothing if not dogged. Hence the name, OldChessDog.Â
