I first started playing at High School. Ive read a few books on chess and believe that anyone can become a master at the game, as long as they have the will and disposition to suceed.
I like to play chess as it is a game where you get to meet people who you may otherwise never have the opportunity to. Chess to me is a true international game with champions from all corners of the planet. It was and still is a game the crosses all cultural barriers. In other words it doesnt matter how rich or poor, how highly regarded or what cultural background your from when you play you are in the same boat as everyone else.
It is an even playing field for everyone and everyone gets the chance to pit their skills against each other.
