I am a Philosophy graduate student. I learned how to play chess when I was about 13, then promptly quit playing. At around 18 I picked up a couple chess books for beginners and played probably 10 games, then promptly quit. Now, nearly a decade later, I've been playing chess again for a couple months. The learning curve is ridiculous!
