About Me:
About me: What's up everyone?  As you can tell from the name, I like politics and music.  I'm a late comer to chess.  I knew how to play growing up but I only started to play serious when I got to college and joined the chess team.  I took a break from OTB play for about four years because of law school but I'm playing OTB again.  My rating on chess.com is overrated.  My chess.com claim to fame is beating FM Joost Retera and FM Franco Trabattoni (in blitz), although Joost  thrased me properly the next game.  In any case, feel free to friend me . . . I love discussing anything related to music and politics (some of it isn't politically correct :-)).   I will change the videos periodically so check back.   I will attach some of my favorite videos.  Feel free to check out my chess blog here too!  http://blog.chess.com/politicalmusic If you want to see more stuff about my politics and music I have a blog for that too http://politicalmusic.wordpress.com About Endgame Puzzles: My opinion is simple.  Openings change.  The middle game requires a lot of elements and it largely dependent upon an individual to improve through analysis and developing their own method of planning.  The endgame is the finishing of the game.  For the most part, there are no new endgame theories, yet, their are beautiful endgames.  Studying engames is a great way to improve your chess in the long-run and short-run.  It also helps you know when to transition from the middlegame to the endgame.  My method of teaching is mainly geared toward adult players who can't memorize as well as younger players.  Pattern recognition does not require as much working theory and I would argue that it is one of the most efficient ways of learning and analysis.  Many of my puzzles have the same themes and I repeat them to teach a concept.  At one point in my OTB chess career, the endgame was my weakest area.  It is quickly becoming my strongest area.  If you want real improvement in your game, turn your weakness into a strength. I also started the series out of frustration with the number of inaccurate puzzles posted.  Chess.com is great because it allows user generated content, but sometimes the puzzles are inaccurate or not consistent.  I felt there was a need for good puzzles that actually made users feel they were learning something and could look forward to everyday.   I profile a strong player, show a video of them (if available), a game, and of course... some musical selection which I feel suits their style :-).  If you haven't check them out, please do!
