About Me:

I used to play competitively over the board as a teenager and in college. My last BCF rating (circa 1986) was 190. My style and opening repertoire was no doubt influenced by one of my first chess books "My 60 Memorable Games" by Fischer. I still play the Najdorf Sicilian and Modern Benoni as Black, although as White I'm now exploring the English. I 'retired' temporarily (I thought) when postgraduate research took priority, but one thing lead to another and I didn't play chess again ... until I joined chess.com in 2007. Now I'm 'shaking off the rust' and getting ready to use my chess brain again. I hope to play at a standard around 2200.
