Most of my rated chess playing was done in high school and college 20 years ago. I played briefly in a few tournaments about 11 years ago in Houston Texas. In late 2009 I just started playing tournament chess again. I’m pretty rusty obviously but hope to get back in the swing of things after playing some games.
I like players who are willing to take risks and think outside the box.: Morozevich, Larsen and Shirazi are some players I appreciate.
I was fortunate to draw GM Sergey Kudrin when I started back in Nov 2009at the National Chess Congress in Philly. Shows my typical offbeat play. You wont find this line ( 4.E4) even as a dubious sidenote in any book.
When I’m not playing chess, I’m playing Guess Who or Don’t Break the Ice with my wonderful daughter.
I’m a fan of Richard Dawkins, Giordano Bruno and Vanessa Van Hemert* (*when she was with 4 Strings).
