About Me:
Did a stint in 'academia' as a theoretical astrophysicist. Still my passion. But passions seldom buy coffee. So I decided to ply my amazing theoretical abilities toward a more humane pursuit; my wallet! The result? I have spent the past couple of decades making my living at the horse tracks, billiard parlors and poker tables. It has provided me with an early semi-retirement. 'Semi', because my wife insisted I purchase a small retail business in order to become more 'respectable' in my old age.
My Chess Style / Favorite Openings:
Is this where I get to brag? Woohoo! Well, once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, I played chess at the highest levels. Nearly cracked the world's top 100. Then put the board away to raise a family with the most remarkable woman on the planet. Pulled the board back out of the closet a few weeks ago (as of this writing) at her insistence. Seems my 'retirement' has interfered with her normal routines. After more than 3 decades away from the game, I'm happy to report it is coming around nicely. Certainly not as sharp as it once was, but sharper than I thought it would be. My talents lie in analysis and defense. There! How's that for blowing one's horn?
