I was born Daniel Greysolon in 1639 in Saint-Germain-Laval, near Lyon, France. I am the first European known to have visited the area where the city of Duluth, Minnesota is now located and the headwaters of the Mississippi River near Grand Rapids. My name is sometimes anglicized as "DuLuth" and is the namesake of Duluth, Minnesota.
