Chess is amazing, one mind against another, the only luck involves encountering a superior player having an off day. One good game see all the dramas that surround this life disappear and as finding a way to score a mate outweighs everything else. Online chess is a nice way to gain experience through quantity. However, there is little better than a lifelong series with someone who is similar in ability to you, getting together for a few games, and keeping a record as the years go by, of great games, horrific mistakes, with life altering conversations along the way. Under the right conditions chess is more than a game, it's an emotional experience.
