"Audibly spoken prayer is a neat evolutionary trick in which parts of the brain communicate
directly via sound waves with the auditory cortex, and the parietal lobe, two parallel pathways,
each of which runs from lower to higher functioning neural regions, creating a dynamic information
processing system that is more efficient than merely relying upon chemical reactions confined by the
chance geographic locations of various brain structures. It is utilizing the same brain real estate that is
involved in one person audibly communicating with another person via speech. I find it rather
unfortunate that this neat evolutionary trick is rarely used by the atheist, and when used by the
theist is done with an unnecessary intellectual fettering in which the auditory cortex and parietal lobe
are erroneously abstracted into an invisible all-powerful and all-knowing being distinct from the self."
