Hello there! Just a few lines to introduce myself. I'm Simon, a not-quite-forty-year-old from the south Wales valleys. I'm returning to chess after many years away, and wishing that I'd done so years ago.
I think this is a great site for playing and learning chess. My only problem is that I went a bit mad a couple of weeks ago and entered just about every available tournament. As a result, I now have hundreds of matches running simultaenously. Hmm ... I don't suppose I'm the first person to have done that!
When I can drag myself away from the chess board, my other interests are a Korean martial art called Tang Soo Do, gym training, and sports in general ... mostly as a spectator, on account of my dodgy knee! I'm also trying to learn a couple of languages, one of them human (Spanish) the other computer-based (SAS).
I've met lots of new friends in my first couple of months on this site. When I clear my backlog of matches I'll start being more active in the groups and teams. And I really want to learn some more opening tactics, but that will have to wait. I've enjoyed the friendly atmostphere on the site and look forward more chess, more matches, more friends.
