I only play a few games at a time so that I can give them my full attention. I use the analysis board only when I feel the game has reached a critical position, and I'd like to think it through. Otherwise, I go without. If I can steer an opening into a variation I'm trying to learn (the Gruenfeld and the Gran Prix variation of the Sicilian as black, the white side of the Dutch and maybe one or two others) then I will use opening books. Otherwise, I generally just aim for the kind of positions I know I'm comfortable in. Favorite players: Mikhail Chigorin, Viktor Bologan, and Capa, of course!
