About Me:
Both my son (Zildjian19) and I use chess.com to better our game and to learn about the countries around us. As we play opponents from around the globe, we mark their location on a globe with sticky arrows and try to learn something about the location in which they reside. It's a great way to study geography! My son loves it. As a side challenge, I am trying to gather 200 friends from 200 different countries/territories. (What other game could you do this?!) I always finish a game with an opponent before I invite them to be friends. I'm just getting started - we'll see how difficult it gets as the friend list grows.

My Chess Style / Favorite Openings:
I taught myself the game at age 14 when I was stuck at home for 2 weeks with tonsilitis. I guess you can say I also caught the chess fever. I bought my first chess computer (1980), played postal chess, and joined my high school chess club. By my senior year, my team finished 2nd in the state of Michigan high school championship. In college, I put chess on the backburner. Since, I have played a few tournaments here and there. The last five years I have run a chess club for kids in one form or another. Both my boys play chess.
