Over 15 years ago, I used to play face-to-face chess. I played in several tournaments, ran the chess club in University, etc. Back then I had a rating of up to 1750 or so.
Now I find I need to exercise my mind. I always look when someone I pass by wants to play a game. My patience is gone, my tactics are rusty, and I've forgotten a lot of strategic theory. But I want to try "turn based" chess online (the one that spans multiple days or weeks), and get my brain working again!!
