About Me:

I've been playing chess since I was 9 years old, taught by my father.  We played infrequently, but it wasn't until I was 22 that I finally beat him in a chess game.  It was a memorable day that I'd been anticipating for a long time!

Over the years I continued to play occasionally, but also had large blocks of time where I hardly played at all, especially when my kids were young.  As a "work-at-home" mom when my children were growing up, I taught all three to play chess at a young age (now they are adults) and my two oldest beat me more times than not!  My youngest son and I became serious about the game last fall and we now play consistently, every day.  We always have a game or two going and are anxious to advance on the learning curve, so to speak!

I've always drawn a parallel between chess and the episodes of life.  How we open...develop...attack...etc., it just makes sense to me!

"norni", plural form "nornii" = term for the beloved dachshund, that has advanced from pet to family member.
