I learned chess by reading chess books and chess journals (MCO, Informator, etc.). I don't believe in chess engines b/c to me, chess is a form of art and an expression of emotions. Chess engines lack both. From 1975-1978---I played for UST Eng'g chess team, UST ROTC chess team and UST chess team that represented Manila in the National UAAP. Some of my most memorable chess games included a draw against GM Svetozar Gligoric and a win against GM Eugene Torre (simultaneous exhibitions). I became relatively inactive from chess after graduating from the university due to work and family commitments. Now, I play simply to enjoy the game and to meet other chess lovers.
