About Me:
I used to be a promising player when I was young. I used to be good. But not anymore. . . in today's standard.
I stop playing chess for 20- 30 years. I played again months ago when I discovered this site. More than half of the games I lost here, I lost by time forfeit. Because there are days that I don't feel like seeing a chessboard. And in 90% of my games here, I encountered difficulties in the opening. My opening is outdated by some 30 years.
There are lots of young and promising players here. I wish them luck in their pursuit of chess glory.
Chess is a good game as long as it is not taken too seriously. Otherwise it could destroy lives. Not so much for the time devoted and wasted as its tendency to draw one into living a life of his own inside the sixty four squares. A make- believe world that has become a refuge of many a loser in real life.
I used to be a serious chessplayer. I used to play competitive chess as a junior player. I gave it up when I realized the futility of the exercise.
I write and I love to read.
My father was a Chinese Filipino and I was born in the Philippines, but I am now residing in my mother's home place, Sao Tome y Principe. A small island state in the gulf of Guinea, in Africa.
Though I visit the Philippines frequently for business and leisure. And, I have a second residence in Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines.
