It's a work in progress.

I joined this site in 2011 and have been playing casually since then, with a few long breaks (many of those breaks prompted by occasions where I timed out of most of my games). Like many people I believed that chess expertise would come naturally to me but I now know that to gain insight in chess requires study and deep thought.

As of April 2015 I have decided to put some work into studying the game and I hope to improve steadily from here on.

I have a cheap chess.com membership now and so have timeout protection, however I have an occasionally chaotic life which may cause me to not be able to make moves for a couple of days at a time. If I time out of a game with you (or you believe I am taking too long to make a move,) please send me a message and I will try my best to work things out. Please understand that I don't mean any offense by timing out/not moving: I simply have a lot on my plate. In addition, there is a fair chance I am not in the same time zone as you so please take that into account.

When I am not playing chess I enjoy reading, writing, and breathing.

Please do not hesitate to talk to me! I sometimes find the discussion on the chess.com forums to be a little bit puerile and liberally salted with that particular sort of armchair generalness that is a defining characteristic of the smartest kids in the room, so you might not find me there. However, I love to talk to people with similar interests, so please start a conversation with me through messages or the "chat" feature.

May your play be more like Fischer; may your personality be less like his.
