So I hadn't played chess in about 10 years, but a few months ago I found the chess.com iPhone app and quickly got hooked on playing chess again. I remember back then I had a Yahoo chess account that I got up to 1900 rating - not sure how that rating relates to the chess.com rating system.
When I first started playing again, the 1400-1500 players were kicking my butt. Playing approximately 40-50 games at once picked my skill up and over the past couple months I've boosted to an 1800 rating, but I think I'm about to level out here or drop back down to 1700. I've noticed all the 1800 and above players are very strategical - a skill that I am lacking, I keep finding myself in middle game situations where I have no idea where to move.
I'm going to try to find some time to read a book on chess strategy or maybe get some lessons, until then the higher rating players are just too tough to play.. kinda takes away the fun of the game when these guys are trumping me with their complicated setups.
The chess.com iPhone app is awesome. I honestly don't know what I would do without it when I get bored. A few places I find it useful: waiting in line at the post office, grocery store, night club, DMV, etc., stuck in rush hour traffic, on a date and the girl is boring me (try this one it's great lol), airplane, driving to Vegas, visiting relatives, the possibilities are endless!
I am forever indebted to chess.com for the app. However, a few requests:
-Game notes within the chess app
-Highlight the chat icon instead of the little star (hard to notice)
-Bug: en passant does not work in analyze mode (as next move)
The profile pic is myself and a few friends being drunk on the San Francisco pier after enjoying an afternoon of bottomless mimosas in Little Italy. Great city, fun stuff lol
