I like chess and I don't care who knows it!! :) But I am a patzasouros rex when it comes down to it.
I'm going to school right now in Wisconsin but I am originally from Colorado. I came here to play soccer but I didn't make the team
. Luckily everything else fell into place as far as friends and academics go, so in case you were worried (and I know you weren't) everything worked out splendidly.
I am majoring in English and Philosophy so that I can hopefully go to graduate school and then pull down a job being a McDonald's shift manager afterwards. (Hopefully I'm not shooting too high). And since there are literally Micky D's everywhere in the world, hopefully I can use the skills I garner there to work in Europe so that I can see the world while holding down a posh job that can be transferred to anywhere.
If books are your thing, and you haven't read the Iliad closely or recently, get after it, Homer won't let you down. And definitely take a look at Faulkner. His books are so beasty that you can read them in high school and enjoy them, but they still go deep enough that you can write a PhD dissertation on them. As for lyric poetry, <3 William Blake <3 can't be beat.
I like music, but I think that Good music is better than Bad music. Do yourself a favor and listen to Neutral Milk Hotel. Jeff Mangum is my hero and actually smarter than your average bear. He is just getting back on the tour path again after almost not existing for a decade, so watch him. Do it.
Stand up comedy is the other thing I'm fairly interested in. I dabble in open mics and small shows on my college campus, but I'm definitely a noooob. The god of all comedians that you should pour libations to is Bill Hicks. The best living comedian is Louis C.K. And your bonus comedian for the day is Steven Wright.
I don't know how to end things because I tend to be a little too loquacious, so I should probz just stop talking now :).
