USCF Rating 1277
Hello! I live in the USA. My friend taught me how to play chess, and since then it's been pretty much the only thing I do. When I am not playing chess I am playing piano, violin or hockey. I have a USCF membership and I've done many tournaments. Right now, my rating is 1277.
Lately my opening repertoire has been the Pirc and the KID as black, and any d4 as white. I pretty much always accept gambits. I don't gambit that much myself, except for the queen's gambit (which can hardly be called a gambit :D). And my openings are ALWAYS changing, so don't expect this paragraph to stay the same.
I consider my self more of a positional player. First I was positional, but I switched to playing more tactical, but now I'm liking positional chess more.
I won't be playing any games with anyone with ratings below 1000 or above 1800 [with one exception] , I want to play people my own skill! Also, I want at least 3 days per move, even though I am premium and have auto timeout protection.
Try out my OS X theme if you want.
I have made some iOS apps. Search the app store for Brendan Gregory.
I am the co-creator of a new opening called the Flying Ninja Attack. It goes 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.Nf3 O-O 6.Be2 e5 7.O-O Nc6 8.d5 Ne7 9.b4 Nh5 10.Re1 Nf4 11.Bf1 a5 12.Ba3 axb4 13.Bxb4 f5 14.Nd2 g5 15.g3 Neg6. It is a Knight sac and somehow Black gets a huge attack. It hasn't been immediately refuted, as Fritz gives the starting position a 0.60 for White. The other creator (he's on this website) is birdsopening.
This is a puzzle I found on another site. If you need a hint look at the following text:
In this position, black is stuck. only the knight and queen can move. The queen can only move back and forth, but the knight can hop about. Get rid of it, and look for a way to mate the king. Remember, if the king is stuck, try to smother mate it. Only one piece can do that... oh, and remember: you want to smother mate the king on b3... and you have to get there while the queen is on a1 (or else she'll just take the knight)...think about tempo.
Good luck!
