I am middle aged, married with children, and once played chess avidly (rabidly?), but have been retired for the last 5 years or so. Someday, when the kids are raised...I'll be back!
One of my favorite grandmasters is Simon Agdestein from Norway - a chess GM and professional soccer player. In my youth I also played both chess and soccer, but unfortunately was nowhere near as good as Agdestein! I love sharp openings like the Sicilian, but also like maneuvering ala the K.I.D. I also enjoy older openings like the Guioco Piano (aka The Italian Game).
