Played quite a bit while I was younger (under 20) - but never anything official like a tournament. Was easily the best player out of my friends.
Returned to play at the age of 37 after being beaten by someone rated 2100+ (CFC). Vowed to get good enough to give him a competitive game. I've been trying to improve ever since.
Still have not played in tournaments, but to give an idea of my strength, I've frequented a local chess club on nights where there have been unofficial round robin tournaments with 15-minute games. I'm about even win/loss with the players there ranging who range from 1450-1950 (CFC).
Current goals are to cement in a specific opening repertoire, learn better positional play, and develop an instinct for victory through attacking play, rather than relying on material advantage brought about by tactics.
