Hi. I started playing chess at the ripe old age of 23. I played a couple tournaments in Los Angeles while I was a grad student at UCLA in 2002, and then not a single OTB game for the following 8 YEARS! I was too busy finishing my PhD, remodeling my house, getting married, working for a startup, moving to San Francisco Bay Area, and raising 2 babies. Some of that has settled down now, and I enjoy playing 1 night/week OTB at my semi-local chess club.
