I'm married to Violet and we have a daughter Chloe and a brand new baby boy Matthew. We live in the sunny south west of England. I have many interests including playing the Piano and Guitar and an awful lot of Football, Golf and tennis too! I believe in working smart and playing hard, both of which I like to think I do!
My last competitive chess match was 12 years ago! I would still be unable to play often if not for my friend (Bravedave) finding this site then hassling me to join it over a game of tennis! I like to feel I have passed this on by then hassling another friend (Paul_Beanie_Hine) to come join us here during a football match! The life of a hobbiest! I hope one day that all three of us will get back to a chess club, but not until my legs can no longer run after a ball!
As white I am happiest in Ruy lopez or Sicillian lines and my style is of trying to press the first move advantage all the way to the end. As black i like tactical counter play with the Sicillian, nimzo indian or grunfeld. I think my strengths are in analysis and theory, my weaknesses are in blitz and I have always made simple oversights under time pressure!
