About Me:
I joined in June 08 but only started playing this June (09). I'll be joining as a premium member very soon. I think it'll prove to be a very worthwhile investment. I'm incredibly impressed by this site. I've compared it to others and it's not only better than all of them, it's in a different class of better-dom! I want to extend my admiration and appreciation to the good people at chess.com who made --and continue to make-- it possible. Sincerely, thankyou!
My short to medium term chess ambitions are to acquire an opening repertoire (rather than playing by the seat of my pants as i now do) and to thereafter get my turn-based rating up to 2000 and my live rating to 1700. I'm confident i'll achieve both before next Summer. Then (whether my self-confidence is well placed or not; whatever my standard-of-play is come the Summer) i really want to enter OTB tournaments; get myself a FIDE rating. The thought of that excites me. I like the idea of getting stuck in to some serious face-to-face battling. However, what i don't like the idea of is not being able to smoke and not having a mug of sweet tea which at the moment are ever-present comforts as i play. (University studies in the 1980s showed that smokers concentrate better than non-smokers).But i'll cross that bridge when i reach it.
Lastly, thanks for reading my little shpeel. May all your hopes and dreams come true. Be lucky in life and in chess. Napoleon is reported as saying: "Give me a lucky general over a brilliant one, any day" (i paraphrase ofcourse)
