Hi. Thanx for reading. I got into taking chess a little more seriously in January of 2009. I am putting a lot of time into the game at this point. The learning curve is quite steep, that is for sure. I have a group of friends, where I live, that play quite frequently. Some of us take the game a little more seriously than others but it is always fun and good times to just hang out and play chess with friends.
I have always been a gamer type since I was young. I began in middle school playing D&D and then got into Magic the Gathering very seriously. I was moderately successful at this game and was able to travel a bit and play. Then came poker - which I still play and take very seriously. I do enjoy gambling, however, I am not ready to put my cash on the line when it comes to my chess game - not there yet. I also enjoy backgammon a lot.
In my real life I am a singer/songwriter. The creative time and outlets afford me a lot of freedom and autonomy with my schedule. And consequently, this time is often taken up by studying chess books lately.
