I am a high school teacher working in an alternative school for at-risk students. I teach science, math, and music. I married my partner of 32 years last summer in California and we have a 22 year old daughter. I have started a chess club at school and I am helping my students learn the game and improve their skills. I love chess because it's like doing "brain push-ups"--each game makes me think and every game is different. It doesn't take long to learn the basics but you can spend years learning to play well. When I am not playing chess or spending time with my family, I am playing mandolin.
