I'm semi retired - Love classical music, antiques, bonsai, reading fantasy and horror, quantum physics, oil painting, home renovations, dinner parties (where I do the cooking), card games like canasta - would like to learn bridge, lots of other stuff, blah, blah.
It's hard to find friends that want to play chess and when you've played a few friends to 'death' it gets a little boring. It's great having this web site to play lot's of different people from different back grounds to really 'test the metal'.
One of my weaknesses is that I often don't pay enough attention to my opponent's moves and get caught up in my own plans and/or move my pieces with out enough thought, then of course, lose. Also, not particularly good on end game (or start or middle - for that matter).
I hope to do much more reading and practice in hopes to strengthen my game.
