2009 Asian Continental Chess Championship

GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly of India finished with five wins and six draws to win the eleven-round 2009 Asian Continental Chess Championship held in Subic Bay,Philippines. GM Zhou Weiqi also had eight points to finished second.Untitled Yu Yangyi finished in a tie with five others for third to 8 th place with 7.5 points.Also with the same scores were GM'S Yu Shaoteng, Le Quang Liem of Vietnam,Rogelio Antonio Jr of the Philippines,Hou Yifan and Shou Jianchao of China. The tournament top two seeds Indian Krishnan Sasikiran and Wesley So did not perform as expected. Sasikiran finished in a tie for 9th to 17 th places while Wesley So came in only 22 nd with 6.5 points.
